‘On Track to Success’

Stephenson Academy is a successful 117 place special school, which opened in 2012, and is a school within Stephenson MK Trust. It has a main site, which caters for 9-16 year olds. We have an associated independent sixth form provision for 16-19 year olds.

As a specialist academy we cater for students who have Education and Health Care Plans with an identified primary need of Social Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH), many with associated challenging behaviour. Many of our students have additional special educational needs such as speech, language and communication difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and mental health difficulties.

From more than 3,500 entries, they have risen to the top. This achievement reflects the dedication, passion, and meaningful impact they make within our community as an alternative provision, supporting young people to overcome barriers and re-engage with education.

The team works tirelessly to build trusting relationships, nurture confidence, and provide a safe, inclusive environment where students feel seen and heard. Through tailored support, early intervention, and passionate advocacy, they empower learners to rediscover their potential and take positive steps forward on their educational journey.
